How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
-- Psalm 119:103
Last Sunday we had our Wycliffe missionaries share an update on their work over the last year, which included Bible translation in Papua New Guinea. They showed us a video clip of one village receiving the New Testament in their native tongue, and the whole village put on a celebration that lasted all day, with original songs and dances, feasting, and the like. In an interview with one of the native translators, he said that finally having the word of God in his "mother tongue" was "like honey on bread."
Here is a video of another village -- the Kimyals of West Papua, Indonesia -- receiving the New Testament in their native tongue for the first time, the fruit of efforts led by WorldTeam.
Imagine if we received the word of God with such gravity and gladness each Sunday morning, and every day.
