Jared,
Given what my church is doing right now AND that I am preaching through Acts to learn precisely these kinds of things, this video was really interesting to me.

I wonder, what are your thoughts?

And how does one "get on the tractor"? His last sentence seems to imply that it is personal holiness. Is that what he means? That if we start being obedient to the Spirit, the Spirit will do more?

That doesn't sound quite right. I'd really like to learn more. I guess I gotta go to the website...

I think he means that if we were truer to the manual, our church would be more Spirit-filled.
Given Chan's other emphases -- selfless missional ecclesiology -- I think that is what he's getting at. Our churches are great at lots of things that don't even show up in the Scriptures.

Btw, I've been preaching on bits from Acts for the last several weeks -- we're in a series I'm calling "Church Matters" -- and recommending Chan's books/sermons to a few people, and God is really wrecking us in a good way. I'm really proud of our folks right now.

Jared, all I can say is "amen".

"If you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"
