Assuming so, I made a mistake. It wasn't the last sentence but the 2nd to last sentence in the other fellow's post I am responding to. I have corrected my 3rd paragraph.
The other blogger said it is a false notion that being a Christian is demonstrated by doing works. I am disagreeing with that, saying it is a true notion.
I'd add to what you say that if I'm talking to an unbelever who asks what makes me as a Christian different I'm going to brag about my actions last or more likely not at all. All my praise will be going solely to Christ.
The fact is I think my sin shows through way more than it should, and I don't think that's going to change this side of heaven.
I skimmed that article....this seems like just semantics to me, but maybe I'm wrong.
If being a Christian isn't demonstrated by works, what would this guy say it is demonstrated by? What else is there? A halo? A healthy glow?
It seems to me that this guy, like many others out there, just hates the term "social" in relationship to the gospel.....as if (God forbid) someone might embrace the notion and be steered away from being traditionally conservative.
Certainly he wouldn't disagree that they will know we are Christians by our love - i.e. what we "demonstrate" to others (gasp!) socially.

So what you're saying, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that I can become a Christian by doing good things?
LOL
I love you, Haggard.
I get and agree with paragraph 1 and 2 but don't understand paragraph 3.
Rich, paragraph 3 of my post?

Oh, I see. I was wondering about you or J.I. Packer there for a second. :)

Clearly, being a Christian is demonstrated by doing theology correctly.
Don't know where your head is Jared. :)
