It's the Little Things

. . . that aren't so little, actually.

Matt Chandler just "tweeted" that his talk at the imminent Catalyst Conference is going to be called "The Explicit Gospel."

This makes me giddy.

If we're going to see widespread reformation taking root in the dominant American evangelical culture, it's going to happen as the Matt Chandlers and Mark Driscolls and Francis Chans, with the all access pass of their "success," extend loving and brotherly but prophetic influence across pastoral tribes. Like 'em or leave 'em, I hope you will pray with me that their influence for gospel-centrality among the Catalyst-type crowd will increase.

I agree Jared. Someone like me can talk about the Gospel all I want, but those with the fame need to be the ones carrying this message. And I do pray they will.

Does anyone know whether or not the conference messages will be available to stream/download online for those of us unable to attend?
Curious in Chicago...

Dave, I don't know. Historically, Catalyst has not live-streamed or even provided free audio after the fact. They sell their stuff.

For being such innovative folks, I think they ought to get with the times and do what Gospel Coalition, Together for the Gospel, and other events do and provide their audio/video online for free.

But maybe that's just me. :-)

Thanks, Jared. I attend the last church in the greater Chicago area to still charge $5 for a CD copy of its messages ("Podcasting? What's that?"), so I'm used to that kind of highway robbery. ;)

It is a shame, though. While we're on the topic, is Element no longer making its messages available online, or am I just a poor web scavenger?

Sounds like a great title. Exactly the answer to Assumed Evangelicalism. More of that please!

I think the Advance 09 conference was an awesome start in that direction and I hope they keep going. And I hope they try to move their message north of the border too. :D

Seminarian Steve, I'm not approving your comments b/c your passive aggression is silly.

If you want to call me (or anyone else) belligerent or the sort of "neo-Reformed" Chandler complains about -- in an interview I like quite a bit, actually, and agree with -- just say so.
