The Blessing of My Community

Upon reading this post from Shaun Groves (and the 2 or 3 posts that led to it), I was reminded again of how blessed I am to be a part of the Element community. If you're an Elementer, thank you for "getting it." Thank you for loving your neighbors more than yourselves. We have regularly served the least of these in our community since we started, and we are approaching 12 months of Bold as Love, and not a single one of you has ever complained about or questioned why we don't spend more money or time on ourselves.

You are a rare breed, and I am honored and humbled to be your pastor.

Jared,

As former pastor in the greater Nashville area (Franklin), and now as a missionary to Mongolia, I so appreciate your insight and recent posts regarding "the Suburbs". I, too, had (and still have) that love/hate relationship with suburbia ... and the particular suburbia where you serve! You're doing awesome work, and even though I've never visited the Element ... based on your writing, I would recommend it to anyone.

We will be on Home Assignment in Franklin in 2010-2011. Maybe we'll get a chance to visit while we are there.

Your blog is a breath of fresh air over here on the other side of the world.

Bernie, thanks so much for the kind words.

But thank you moreso for going to "the ends of the earth" to teach and live Jesus.

Would be great to great to meet you when you're back in the States.

God bless you, brother.
