My book initially titled "The Unvarnished Jesus: 12 Portraits of Jesus as He Was and Is" as of 2 hours ago has a new title: Your Jesus is Too Safe: Outgrowing a Drive-Thru, Feel-Good Savior.
As far as I know, it is still scheduled for release by Kregel in Fall 2009.

I like the new one! Can't wait to read it.
if i didn't know you, i'd probably buy the second title faster. though any purchase is a scan through the chapters and few pages of the first chapter

Gavin, that's obviously the impetus behind the publisher's need to re-title.
I'm with Gavin, the new title makes you want to pick it up more.
Of course, I was going to pick it up anyway ...

Yes. The new title was actually on my several-options long list of alternative titles they requested.
The subtitle is there's minus a qualifier I requested they remove to make it shorter.
