Five For Friday: Desert Island Films

I did albums last week and books the week before that. Now apparently I have a TV and DVD player on this deserted island. These are the five movies I wouldn't mind being stuck with (not to be confused with my list of five spiritual films). These are not the same five movies I'd list in a My Five Favorite Movies list, and I cannot begin to explain that.

In no particular order:

1. Seven Samurai

2. The Cable Guy (yes, really)

3. Back to the Future

4. The Lord of the Rings (yep, cheating by counting the trilogy as one film)

5. Casablanca

(Actually, Samurai and Casablanca would both make my all-time top five list. The others are just sentimental faves; I can watch them over and over and still enjoy them and find comfort in them.)

for the record, the cable guy is one of the best movies ever!

1. sea biscut (something about 2nd chances gets me)

2. braveheart
3. tommy boy
4. saving private ryan
5. signs (wouldn't it be freaky to watch a scarry movie when you are stranded in the desert?

Hahaha.

It'd be scary in the desert too. :-)

I can't help but add to this one...

1) History of the World (Mel Brooks' best)

2) Dr Zhivago

3) The Hunt for Red October ("I give our chances...1 in 3")

4) American Beauty (not sure why this one appeals to me...I think it reflects a lot of the problems in our culture)

5) Steel Magnolias (every girl needs a movie for PMS)

Man, I'm glad I am of the gender that doesn't have movie choice limitations based on biological functions.

:-p

It's so hard to narrow it down to 5!

I'm in agreement about LOTR - it's really one piece broken into three.

Pride & Prejudice (A&E miniseries)
Band of Brothers (HBO miniseries)
Gladiator
