I wonder what my nephew, who lives in Japan, and who right now can't give radioactive tap water to his babies, would think of that. I worry about an omniscient and omnipotent god who knows these things will happen but does nothing to stop them. I'm afraid your response does nothing to comfort me.
Love? That puzzles me. God doesn't seem to like Japan very much, does he?

ReplyDeleteOr sometimes pain is a loving means of getting one's attention. "Pain is God's megaphone to a deaf world" (Lewis).

ReplyDeleteI don't know what your nephew would think of this, but I know that many have found the love of Christ a deep comfort in times of deep affliction.
ReplyDeleteI would worry about a God who allows suffering capriciously and callously, but that is not the God the Bible reveals.
